Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Mono Software (OPC) Private Limited is a software company incorporated under the laws of India, based in Nagpur, Maharashtra. We build and operate Circles for international users.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account details — your name, email address and profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address (or Apple's private relay address) that you choose to share
• Content you post — photos, videos, captions and reactions shared within your circles, and the circles you create or join
• Any other information you voluntarily send us by email

Information collected automatically:

• IP address and request details, processed by our hosting infrastructure as part of serving and securing the Service
• A push notification token for your device, so we can deliver notifications you have opted in to
• Device information — device model, operating system version and app version — for troubleshooting and compatibility
• Technical error reports generated when something goes wrong in the app or in our server code (via Sentry) — the error message and stack trace, the device and OS, the screen you were on, and a short trail of the actions that led up to it
• Usage analytics for this website via Google Analytics — the pages you view, how you arrived, and your browser, device type and approximate location. If you accept analytics on the cookie banner, Google Analytics also sets cookies so it can recognise your return visits. Until you accept, or if you decline, it sets no cookies and receives only cookieless signals with no identifier linking one visit to another. Google Analytics does not run inside the app, and it never receives your name, email or content

Error reports are deliberately kept free of your content. We do not send Sentry your name or email address, and a report identifies you only by your internal account ID, which is meaningless outside our own systems. Reports never include your photos, videos or captions.

We do not collect payment information, because Circles is free. We do not access your contacts list.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Service you signed up for
• Show your content to the people you've shared it with — and no one else
• Send you notifications about activity in your circles and important account notices
• Improve and maintain the Service
• Diagnose crashes and technical faults so we can fix them
• Understand, in aggregate, how this website is used
• Detect and prevent abuse, and enforce our Content and Child Safety policies

We do not sell your personal data. We do not show you ads, and we do not use your content or personal data for advertising.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with third-party providers only as necessary to operate the Service. These providers are:

• Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) — database, authentication, file storage and server functions, where your account details and the content you post are stored
• Google (Google LLC) — Google Sign-In if you choose to sign in with Google, and push notification delivery on Android devices
• Google Analytics (Google LLC) — usage analytics for this website only, receiving the usage, device and approximate-location data described in Section 2, with cookies only if you accept them on the cookie banner
• Apple (Apple Inc.) — Sign in with Apple if you choose it, and push notification delivery on iOS devices
• Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — error and crash reporting for the app and our server code, receiving the technical diagnostic data described in Section 2

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy and data processing terms.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and meet our legal obligations.

• Your account details and the content you post are retained while your account is active
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings in the app, or by following the steps on our account deletion page
• Once you delete your account or request deletion, your personal data and content are removed from our systems, including routine backups, within 30 days
• Error reports held by Sentry expire on Sentry's own retention schedule and are deleted automatically once that period ends. They contain none of your content

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

If you're in India, you have these rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you're in the EU or UK, you have them under the GDPR, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Data Transfers

Mono is based in India. Your account details and content are stored in Supabase's Singapore region, where our server functions also run. Google and Apple deliver push notifications from their global networks, so requests may be handled by a data center near you. Sentry receives error reports in the United States. Google processes analytics data in the United States and other countries where it operates.

This means your data is transferred and processed outside your country of residence. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly. Our Child Safety Policy describes how we protect minors who use the Service.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss or misuse. All traffic between your device and the Service is encrypted in transit using HTTPS, and your content is only ever served to members of the circles you have shared it with. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how this website is used. It collects the usage, device and approximate-location data described in Section 2, and sets cookies on your device only if you accept them.

Analytics cookies are off until you turn them on. When you first visit, we ask for your consent through a banner, and we set no analytics cookies unless you accept. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no such cookies are placed and Google Analytics runs in a restricted, cookieless mode: it receives only the limited signals described in Section 2, with no identifier that recognises you across visits, and they are used only for aggregate statistics. We record your choice in a small first-party cookie (circles_consent) that lasts 12 months, after which we ask again. That cookie is strictly necessary to honour your decision and is not used for anything else. You can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer. We don't use Google's advertising features, and we run no other trackers.

Beyond that consent cookie, the website sets no other cookies and keeps nothing else in your browser.

The app itself runs no analytics and sets no cookies. Error reporting works differently and is not covered by the banner: Sentry does not track you between sessions and only sends a technical report when something actually fails. Because it is strictly necessary to keep the Service working and carries none of your content, it runs by default.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made, and notify you in the app before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
